Tyler's Story

Does Don Cherry know about this?

Tyler has been working with the Port Perry Mojacks for 6 years and it all started when he inquired about hockey games and practices at the arena. His intention was to find out the schedule so he could watch the players as they practiced and played their games.

Tyler went to watch a practice and at this practice Murray, the general manager at that time, approached Tyler and asked if he wanted to help the team out. He introduced Tyler to the coach and the players, some of whom Tyler already knew from high school.

Tyler says, “I felt proud when Murray asked me to help. Murray said I would be strong enough to help carry the team’s equipment”.   Tyler is an Equipment Manager for the team and has the team coat to prove it. Some of his duties include packing all the sticks, jerseys, socks, water bottles and pucks for games, and taping broken sticks together so that players can return them. He travels to all away games with the team and sits in the penalty box watching their games. A piece of advice that Tyler gives to the players is to always listen to the coach.

He also assists with rookie camp, team camp and travels with the team to their annual tournament. When asked about what he enjoys the most, Tyler stated that he enjoys it all equally. He says that he is regularly told that he has done a good job by the coaches.

Tyler thoroughly enjoys his role as Equipment Manager and plans to stay with the Mojacks for as long as they will have him.
